Public consultation: Reducing dependency on fossil fuels

In March, 2015, a draft petition was received by the office of the city clerk asking for a public consultation on fossil fuels and city initiatives to be taken to reduce the dependency on fossil fuels. The city immediately welcomed the initiative even before the 15,000 signatures were collected under the procedure relating to the right of initiative.

The city mayor, Mr. Denis Coderre, confirmed, on June 30, 2015, that a public consultation would be held and that the executive committee had instructed the Office de consultation publique de Montréal (public consultation office) to prepare for the public consultation over the summer so that it could take place in fall, 2015. The public consultation begins on October 29, 2015.
