What is opened and closed at the city for the Saint-Jean Baptiste holiday

Montréal, June 20, 2008 - Many city of Montréal facilities and attractions will remain open on Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day while others will be closed or operate on reduced schedules.  

Most city offices are closed Tuesday, June 24, 2008 as are borough offices, service points and Accès Montréal counters. Residents may consult borough Web sites at: ville.montreal.qc.ca.

Garbage and recycling

Garbage and recycling schedules vary by borough. Residents may consult their local weeklies or contact local service points for information on changes to pick-up times and dates.

Sports and cultural facilities

Schedules for arenas, indoor and outdoor pools, sports, cultural and community centres, libraries and houses of culture vary by borough. Residents should contact these facilities or call 311 to check on dates and times. 

Science centres

The Biodôme (4777, avenue Pierre De Coubertin) will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Information: 514-868-3000.

The Planetarium (1000, rue Saint-Jacques) will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Information on shows and activities is available at www.planetarium.montreal.qc.ca Information: 514-872-4530.

The Botanical Garden and Insectarium (4101, rue Sherbrooke Est and 4581, rue Sherbrooke Est) will be open Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Information: 514-872-1400.

Other facilities and attractions

The municipal court, 775, rue Gosford, its local courts and service counter at 303, Notre-Dame Est will be closed on June 24.  Information: 514-872-2964.

Public markets will remain open on their regular schedule, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Information: 514-937-7754.

Bonsecours Market (350, rue Saint-Paul Est) will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Information: 514-872-7730.

The Museum of Archaeology and History, Pointe-à-Callière, will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Information: 514-872-9150.

The Claude Robillard sports complex will be closed to the public.

Écocentres

Écocentre Acadie (1200, boul. Henri-Bourassa Ouest) will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Information: 514-872-1376.

Écocentre de la Côte-des-Neiges (6925, chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges) will be open
8 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Information: 514-872-3517.

Écocentre Eadie (1868, rue Cabot) will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Écocentre Petite-Patrie (1100, rue des Carrières) will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Écocentre de Rivière-des-Prairies (11400, rue Léopold-Christin) will be open 9 a.m. to
6 p.m. Information: 514-868-4277.

Écocentre de Saint-Michel (2475, rue des Regrattiers) will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Information: 514-872-3267.

Please note that écocentres do not accept material after 5:45 p.m.

Parking

Parking meters continue to operate on Tuesday, June 24 and parking restrictions must be obeyed at all times.
