Certified Family Quality

Certified Family QualityThere are undeniable advantages to living in Montréal. Montréal has a number of assets: a network of bike paths that stretches along hundreds of kilometres, an abundance of parks and green spaces, clusters of services near to residential areas, impressive sports and recreational centres and exceptional arts and culture centres

More than 250,000 families who have chosen to live in Montréal appreciate these services. Although young Montrealers are attached to their city, too many of them choose to leave and raise their children elsewhere.
This is why the city created a Family Policy in 2008 along with a 2008-2012 Family Action Plan, which focus primarily on demographics, safety, transportation and housing.

A teddy bear and a “Certified Family Quality” seal illustrate the city’s actions and gestures in favour of Montréal families.

Since the family action plan was adopted in 2008, the boroughs and the city’s administrative departments have made family their focus. A number of ideas, projects and actions have been brought forward to make our city welcoming and pleasant for families who choose to live here.

Montréal Family Policy

In 2008, the municipal administration adopted its family policy, “Pour grandir à Montréal” and its 2008-2012 action plan.

Since then, each borough has committed to producing a local action plan in order to develop a better quality of living for Montréal families.
