Saint-Laurent, October 12, 2018 – On October 4, 2018, the Borough of Saint-Laurent won the 2018 Award of Excellence from the Association québécoise du loisir municipal (AQLM) in the "Municipalities or Boroughs with a population of 75, 000 or more" category for its Sports Complex project. This competition annually rewards municipalities that have distinguished themselves through a project, program or achievements that improve their residents' quality of life.
"It is a great honour for the Sports et installations team to be recognized in this way by their peers," commented the Mayor of Saint-Laurent, Alan DeSousa. "The Sports Complex is an unprecedentedly large infrastructure project in Saint-Laurent—a project for which our employees had to surpass themselves in many ways. Today, we are proud to see this new building buzzing with activities and visitors seven days a week. Congratulations to all those who contributed toward this project!"
About the Sports Complex
Having previously garnered awards for its distinctive architecture and the quality of its programs, the Saint-Laurent Sports Complex is a new building that was inaugurated in August 2017. The various spaces within the centre (swimming pool, indoor soccer facilities, gymnastics palestra, gymnasium, fitness room, multi-purpose room, permanent premises for certain clubs and office spaces) have made it possible to improve the range of sports activities offered by the Borough and by non-profit sports clubs operating on Saint-Laurent territory. More than just a mere infrastructure, the Saint-Laurent Sports Complex is an accessible, family-friendly place bringing people together and constructed according to the most stringent requirements of sustainable development.
