BOROUGH PREPARING FOR MAJOR MOVE TO NEW, ULTRA-MODERN LIBRARY
9 octobre 2018
Pierrefonds, October 9, 2018 – In preparation for the opening of the new Pierrefonds Library in the first months of next year, the two temporary points of service at the East Community Centre (ECC) and the Pierrefonds Cultural Centre (PCC) will close on Sunday, October 28, 2018.
Moving the collections to the new Pierrefonds Library
The extensive work involved in reclassifying, weeding out and packing books requires months of preparation during which the library's teams will be busy carrying out these tasks. To do so and look after relocating the collections to the new Pierrefonds Library, the points of service at the East Community Centre (ECC) and the Pierrefonds Cultural Centre (PCC) will close on Sunday, October 28, 2018.
"I'm very pleased at the thought that we are now preparing to move the collections to our new ultra-modern facilities, which I look forward to presenting to you," stated Borough Mayor Dimitrios (Jim) Beis. "The design of the new Pierrefonds Library is inspired by the best practices of today's libraries and trends in innovation. That is why we must now close both points of service in order to begin the registration and layout of the books and collections with the new network that will provide a more efficient, interactive experience for library users."
Roxboro Library remains open
For the next few months, the Roxboro Library will welcome visitors according to its regular schedule and all the usual services will be available. Book drops will also remain available at the ECC and PCC for book returns.
In addition, the other libraries in the network are accessible, such as those on Île-Bizard or in Saint-Laurent. The computerized reservation network is also available. Residents will be able to use the computerized book hold service of the Montréal library network or go to one of the libraries to choose books. The list of addresses may be found online (at www.ville.montreal.qc.ca/bibliothèques).
