A Lookback at the 2017 Floods

(Pierrefonds-Roxboro, Thursday, March 8, 2018) - The borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro is taking advantage of the Commission de sécurité publique de Montréal's visit to Pierrefonds-Roxboro on March 20 to organize a discussion opportunity in the form of flood information booths. A number of the Borough's partners that worked on the 2017 flood emergency measures will be joining the group to inform residents about, and discuss, the various measures taken in an emergency situation and the services offered to the population.

Please take note of the date and time: Tuesday, March 20, 2018, 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m., at the Pierrefonds Cultural Centre, 13850, boulevard Gouin Ouest. Seating in the meeting room is limited to 200 people. Access will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

We promised a review of the events and it is during this evening that residents will have the opportunity to discuss this matter, either during the first part, which is intended to be an informal dialogue between responders and residents, or during the Commission de sécurité publique's meeting that will follow after that" explained Borough Mayor Dimitrios (Jim) Beis.

The Commission de sécurité publique de Montréal, composed of 9 commissioners, will publicly review the Rapport d'événement et de rétroaction sur les inondations 2017 (the report on the 2017 flood-related events and feedback), beginning at 7:30 p.m. that same day. The purpose of this review is to provide a report on the events, which will be presented by representatives of the Sécurité civile de Montréal and the Service incendie de Montréal, the two departments in charge of managing actions taken in emergency situations. The meeting will also be used to report on the lessons learned in managing such incidents. The presentation will be followed by a question period.

The report to be tabled at the meeting is now available, in French, for consultation on the Commission's website. The English version will be available on the evening of the presentation. Presentations will be in both languages.
