Montréal for

New 18 KM+ Cross-Country Ski Trail Along Verdun, LaSalle and Lachine Shorelines

20 janvier 2016

Montréal, le 20 janvier 2016 - The boroughs of Verdun, LaSalle and Lachine are pooling their efforts to offer you, starting this weekend, an over 18-km cross-country ski trail for beginners, along the river banks.

Since the beginning of January, the Borough of Verdun has been offering cross-country skiers a trail that links Arthur-Therrien and Honorable-George-O'Reilly parks. This initiative has snowballed and the boroughs of LaSalle and Lachine, within a pilot project, have followed Verdun's example in order to extend this trail.

The track-set trail will therefore start at parc Arthur-Therrien in Verdun, cover the Borough of LaSalle's shorelines from start to finish, and end at parc Summerlea in Lachine. The trail will also include a loop in the magnificent parc René-Lévesque. However, for safety reasons, some parts of the trail will be inaccessible—for example, under Honoré-Mercier bridge in LaSalle.

Free of charge, the new trail will be regularly maintained according to the weather conditions. Rest stops are offered to skiers at the Verdun Auditorium, 4111 boulevard LaSalle; at LaSalle Borough Hall, 55 avenue Dupras; and at Maison du brasseur, 2901 boulevard Saint-Joseph in Lachine. In addition to facilitating access to the shorelines, this new trail comes within the Physically Active Montréal policy.
