Towards a First Public Pool in Pierrefonds-Roxboro
11 septembre 2013
Montréal, September 11, 2013 - The Mayor of the Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro, Mrs. Monique Worth, has kicked off today the construction works of the first public pool in Pierrefonds-Roxboro.
"This project reflects the borough willingness and commitment to implement the actions identified in its Master Plan for Cultural, Sports and Recreation Facilities aiming to provide citizens with modern, safe and accessible facilities.", said, Mrs. Monique Worth, Mayor of the Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro.
The realization of this project was made possible thanks to the collaboration and generosity of the “Club de natation Valleycrest”. In fact, the Club has transferred the ownership of the Valleycrest Pool site, located at 4600, rue des Cageux, to Ville de Montreal without monetary consideration.
In addition to the construction of an 8-lane, 25 meters long pool with two diving boards, the project includes the construction of a baby pool, water games and a 500 square meters building, all for the cost of $5.2 million.
The new pool will be built on the Valleycrest Pool site at Grier Park. Careful planning of the project has allowed users of Valleycrest Pool to take full advantage of the summer season in 2013 and then accelerate the construction and execution of works to ensure that the pool will be ready to welcome all borough residents in spring 2014.
