Société de transport de Montréal
The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is governed by a board of directors composed of municipal elected officials and two representatives of public transit users.
As the 15th largest corporation in Québec, the STM provides 364 million trips per year, or 1.3 million trips on average each day of the week, which accounts for 85 per cent of all public transit trips in Québec. Public transportation is more than just an essential service: there is no doubt about the structuring role it plays in Montreal’s economic and social development. Indeed, hundreds of thousands of commuters use public transit to get to work, to school or to their leisure activities.
