Skating aficionados can glide on the ice and play freestyle hockey or broom ball at Montréal’s many skating rinks. There are some 275 skating rinks and ice rings in Montréal, two of which are refrigerated.

Refrigerated rinks

Beaver Lake skating rink, Mount Royal Park

The refrigerated skating rink on top of Mount Royal is the city’s best kept secret. The rink, with an area of 2,500 square metres, offers a quality ice surface and a longer skating season.

Cross-country skiing

There’s nothing better than going cross-country skiing to make you appreciate wintertime. Nearly 170 kilometres of cross-country skiing trails can be found in Montréal.

Bird watching
