- Montréal Family Policy
In 2008, the municipal administration adopted its family policy, "Growing up in Montréal," and its 2008-2012 action plan, both of which are awaiting approval by city council at its meeting on May 26, 2008. There are many reasons for these initiatives, one of the most important being to highlight the quality of life that Montréal offers families and the city's desire to work constantly towards improving it.

Community gardens have been part of Montréal’s landscape for many years. There are now 97 community gardens throughout the city.

Montréal has two French-speaking universities, the Université de Montréal and the Université du Québec à Montréal, as well as two English-speaking universities, McGill University and Concordia University. There are also several associated schools, such as the École des hautes études commerciales (HEC Montréal), the École polytechnique, the École nationale d’administration publique, the École de technologie supérieure and the Institut national de la recherche scientifique.
