François Houdé
As a glass sculptor whose work is known worldwide, François Houdé was the
forerunner in using new techniques to incorporate glass into his works. He
greatly contributed to the development of his community by co-founding the
Centre des métiers du verre du Québec, which has provided training to many new
artists.
In conjunction with the Conseil des métiers d'art du Québec, the Ville de
Montréal developed the Prix François-Houdé in 1996 to highlight excellence in
new products being created within Montréal's craft industry and promote the
works by young creative artisans.
