Prix Pierre-Ayot A joint collaboration between the Ville
de Montréal and the Association des galeries d'art contemporain (AGAC)
The award has been presented at the Gala des arts visuels on December 13,
2011 at the Théâtre Rialto.

Award objectives
Promote excellence in new visual art creations in Montréal;
Promote the work of young artists in Montréal's galleries and artist-run
spaces;
Acknowledge the efforts of distributors who support young artists who are
just starting out.
Nature of the award
This award is intended for young artists. It honours the exceptional
workmanship and original contribution of their work in painting, printing,
drawing, illustration, photography or any other medium.
The award includes:
A $5,000 award presented to the recipient;
A $2,500 budget to organize and promote one (1) one-person exhibit at an
AGAC-member gallery or another exhibition space in Montréal. The exhibition
space will be determined pursuant to an agreement between the recipient artist
and the interested gallery or artist-run space;
The Ville de Montréal will acquire a work of the recipient. For
acquisition purposes, large-scale works or those that are difficult to store
may not be selected.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible, professional artists under the age of 35 must:
Have no more than ten years of professional artistic experience;
Have taken part in a group exhibit or presented a one-person exhibit in a
gallery or artist-run space in the Ville de Montréal since October 2009;
Live in or work out of a studio located in the Ville de Montréal.
Registration procedure
The registration file must be submitted by the artist, or the artist-run
space or gallery who presented the artist or is acting as his representative. In
any event, both parties must sign the registration form.
The registration files must be sent by 6:00 p.m. on September 23, 2011, to
the following address:

Open Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Each registration must include:
The filled-out registration form;
The artist's curriculum vitae;
The artist's media kit, if applicable;
A maximum of 15 digital images of the artist's work, with a list
identifying the works presented.
Method of evaluation
Applications will be evaluated by a panel of five judges who represent the
visual arts field and have been selected for their impartiality and expertise in
various disciplines and major contemporary artistic trends.
