Prix Louis-Comtois A joint collaboration between the
Ville de Montréal and the Association des galeries d'art contemporain (AGAC)
The award has been presented at the Gala des arts visuels on December 13,
2011 at the Théâtre Rialto.

Award objectives
Support and promote the work of an artist who has distinguished
him/herself on Montréal's contemporary arts scene in the last fifteen years.
Honour the quality of an artist's work midway in his/her career.
Nature of the award
The award includes :
A $7,500 award presented to the recipient;
A $2,500 budget to organize and promote one (1) one-person exhibit (or for
any other promotional activity) at an AGAC-member gallery or another venue
located in Montréal. The exhibition space will be determined pursuant to an
agreement between the recipient artist and the interested gallery or
artist-run space.
The Ville de Montréal will acquire a work of the recipient. For
acquisition purposes, large-scale works or those that are difficult to store
may not be selected.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible, professional artists midway in their career must:
Have more than ten years of professional artistic experience;
Currently work in the contemporary arts field;
Have held one-person exhibits or taken part in group exhibits;
Live in or work out of a studio located in the Ville de Montréal.
Registration procedure
The registration file must be submitted by the artist or the gallery
representing the artist. In any event, the artist must sign the registration
form.
The registration files must be sent no by 6:00 p.m. on September 23, 2011, to
the following address:

Open Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Each registration must include:
The filled-out registration form;
The artist's curriculum vitae;
The artist's media kit;
A maximum of 20 slides or 20 digital images of the artist's work, with a
list identifying the works that represent the applicant's entire career.
Method of evaluation
Applications will be evaluated by a panel of five judges who represent the
visual arts field and have been selected for their impartiality and expertise in
various disciplines and in major contemporary artistic trends.
