Activities and partners

Activities for children

In most of the boroughs, there are free recreational and cultural activities for children.

Early childhood professionals can benefit from specialized training and activities offered in all 19 boroughs by the Association montréalaise pour le développement des loisirs des tout-petits. A city partner since 1983, the organization has developed an approach that fosters development through play.

Heritage of expression

Heritage of expression includes skills and knowledge based on traditional and popular culture. Throughout Montréal, artisans, musicians and amateur dance troupes help to keep the traditions of their country of origin alive and share them with others through metropolitan activities and events.

Outdoor dances on Mount Royal

For nearly 50 years, the Association montréalaise des arts et traditions populaires has invited citizens to participate in outdoor dances that take place at Beaver Lake on Mount Royal. Two evenings a week during the summer, organizers offer a repertory of international folk dance.

Société du patrimoine d'expression du Québec

The Société du patrimoine d’expression du Québec offers its voice to those who share the joys of expressing themselves through traditional cutlrues. The SPEQ is one of the collaborators of the Fête des enfants de Montréal and other events that bring together artists from different ethnocultural communities.

Recreational activities for persons with disabilities

Recreational activities for persons with disabilities are offered by many boroughs.

A city partner depuis 1975, the mission of the AlterGo organization is to facilitate social integration for all persons with disabilities on the island of Montréal by fostering access to recreational activities. AlterGo strives to make culture and cultural recreation accessible to persons with handicaps, and offers its expertise to boroughs and organizations that want to develop cultural programs adapted to the needs of persons with disabilities.
