Cultural dissemination and facilities

Accès CultureAfter more than 25 years of existence, the city’s cultural dissemination network has a new name: Accès Culture

  • To commemorate the fact that accessibility to culture is the purpose of the network
  • To highlight the existence of this unique and completely municipal network dedicated to disseminating culture.

Mission

When the cultural development policy was adopted, the city and its boroughs reiterated their desire to provide access to culture by updating the network’s mission and operations.

“In regards to cultural dissemination, the mission of the city and its boroughs is to ensure that citizens have access to culture based on the principles of democracy and equity, as well as to foster citizens’ participation in cultural life, which contributes to the vitality of their environment and Montréal’s growth as a cultural metropolis.”

The network

Accès culture is:

  • 24 presenters
  • 60 dissemination sites
  • 80 people in charge of dissemination
  • 2,000 shows
  • 300 exhibitions
  • Thousands of artists
  • 650,000 spectators and visitors
  • $2 million in talent fees

The 24 municipal presenters offer cultural activities in 60 dissemination sites in all of Montréal’s boroughs. For a list of sites and contact information for staff in charge of scheduling performances, click on Municipal cultural disseminators.

Schedule of events

Shows, exhibitions, activities, mediation and artists in residence in disciplines such as dance, song, literature, music, theatre and visual arts are all on the Accès Culture schedule of events.

The Accès Culture network’s schedule of events is available:

Common projects

In addition to their respective schedules of events, Accès Culture presenters host or develop projects together that are presented in halls across the network. These events, often carried out in collaboration with partners, involve a number of disciplines — dance, song and film — and give selected artists and organizations the chance to perform and meet their audiences in different boroughs.

The network in the summertime

The city has a long tradition of outdoor cultural activities, as evidenced by 80 years of the Campbell Concert Series, 55 years of the Théâtre La Roulotte and 50 years of the Théâtre de Verdure. In addition to these activities throughout Montréal’s neighbourhoods, municipal presenters get a breath of fresh air each summer thanks to special programs in the parks of each of Montréal’s boroughs.
