Namori is a native of Ivory Coast who sings Afro-jazz songs coloured by rock, funk, reggae and soul. This virtuoso percussionist will present his most recent album, Gui Blo (Thought), accompanied by four musicians.

Guitarist, composer and musicologist Reno de Stefano is very active on the Montréal jazz scene, especially at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, and has appeared with virtuoso American guitarists Joe Diorio and Sid Jacobs.

Jean-Nicolas Trottier Big Band
This show features the up-and-coming generation of Montréal jazz musicians in an original repertoire that includes Jazz Concerto and a suite by Jocelyn Couture, one of Canada’s foremost trumpet players. It is presented in collaboration with the Conseil des arts de Montréal en tournée.

The film, starring Romain Duris and Juliette Binoche, presents a portrait of the capital through the destiny of a dozen characters, above all a dancer suffering from a serious heart disease. The contemplation of death suddenly highlights the value of life, the life of other people and that of the entire city.

Rafael Zaldivar trio
Rafael Zaldivar is a young Cuban pianist with a varied career who has lived in Montréal for several years and whose virtuosity has, in particular, earned him the Relève Jazz en Rafale competition. The trio comprises Rafael Zaldivar (piano), Nicolas Bédard (double bass), and Kevin Warren (percussion).
Jazzlab
This octet assembles leaders on the Montréal jazz scene and creates colourful, contrasting musical atmospheres to produce impeccable swing. Rémi Bolduc, Frank Lozano and Alexandre Côté (saxophones), Aron Doyle (trumpet and bugle), Richard Gagnon (trombone), John Roney (piano), Alain Bédard (double bass), and Isaiah Ceccarelli (percussion), make up the group.

Haïti en folie (an evening of outdoor film and performances)
This evening performance combining music (raga muffin, spoken word, reggae and folk) and ethnic dancing, will assemble 20 artists, including Boukman Eksperyans. The film Haïti chérie by Claudio Del Punta, recipient of the best feature film award at the Festival International du Film Haïtien de Montréal 2008, will close this colourful celebration with a Creole flavour.

70th anniversary of the NFB: a celebration in film and music
This important evening event will focus on film and music. Luc Bourdon’s La mémoire des anges will reveal Montréal in the 1950s and the 1960s seen through the lenses of National Film Board of Canada filmmakers. It will be preceded by Jean-François Pouliot’s short film ONF 70 ans. A lively concert with a Hungarian gypsy flavour by the duo Fortin-Léveillé-Nasturica will open the festivities.

Inspired by the adventure of La mémoire des anges, director Luc Bourdon and his collaborators will revive different facets of Montréal of long ago by intermingling excerpts from NFB films, music interpreted by the Fanfare Pourpour and gripping anecdotes.

The choreographer draws the audience into a universe inspired by the works of Canadian painter Marianna Gartner.
