Donations of art works
Procedure for the submission and acceptance of a donation
The offer submitted must be accompanied by a complete description of the art work or works: title, author, date of production, medium, technique and dimensions, and a photograph or slide of each of the works in question. The offer submitted must also stipulate the donor’s conditions.
If the donor’s conditions are acceptable and the work or works proposed are of interest to the municipal collection, the donor must submit an appraisal by an expert recognized by the Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board.
This appraisal must include a financial and artistic assessment and, if possible, the curriculum vitæ of the artist or artists, an evaluation of the condition of each of the works and the conditions necessary for their proper preservation.
The appraisal must be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and proof of ownership of the work or works in question.
