Cultural mediation brings together artists, their work and the public
To be dynamic and innovative, a 21st-century cultural hub like Montréal must be inclusive and involve artists and city residents in an approach centred on exchanges and meetings to ensure that as many people as possible participate, each in his own way, in the vitality of our shared cultural space. In 2005, the Ville de Montréal’s Politique de développement culturel adopted cultural mediation as a priority initiative to foster access by all Montrealers to culture. The 2007-2017 Action Plan adopted by the Ville de Montréal, the Québec government, the federal government, Culture Montréal and the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal, puts mediation at the head of policy directions and measures: |
|
First approach: enhance access to culture
Promote the right to culture for all residents
- Adopt cultural mediation as a strategy for access to culture
- Increase funding for cultural mediation programs
- Involve educational institutions in cultural mediation strategies by developing projects and partnerships
