Harmonization

The city began harmonizing its tax system in 2002. Municipal powers are divided on the Island of Montréal between the Urban Agglomeration Council, the municipal councils of the related municipalities and the Ville de Montréal’s decision-making entities.

Harmonization of the tax burden was completed in 2007, but the process will continue with respect to methods of charging user fees. Consequently, fees applied in 2010 for supplying water to residential buildings will be reduced in many boroughs in wich they apply.

For more information, please:

  1. Call your borough office;
  2. Call the 311 (island of Montréal) or 514 872-0311 (outside Montréal);
  3. Send us an e-mail.
