Tax bill - general information
| |
The reminders for 2012 taxes will be mailed in early May. Friday, June 1, 2012 is the deadline for payment of your second tax instalment.
| |
Property owners who paid each of their instalments in full prior to the due date will not receive a reminder. Consequently taxpayers whose second instalment (or post-dates cheque) has already been received will not get a reminder.
| |
Property owners who made an arrangement for payment, including interest, that extends past June 1, 2011, will still get a reminder because their bill was not paid in full on
the due dates.

You can advise us of your new billing adresse by email, in person at your borough office or by calling 311 (from the island of Montréal) or 514 872-0311 (from outside the island).
Please note that the Comité de gestion de la taxe scolaire de Montréal, an independant organism that manages the school tax, must also be informed of any change in the billing adress.

No. The municipal tax bill is generated at the start of the year in the name of the owner listed in our records at that time.
However, when you sign your sales agreement, the notary advise you of the year’s taxes due and payment deadlines. If this was not done, please contact us by email to find out what taxes are owed, to avoid interest charges. Municipal taxes apply to a property and not to its owner. In other words, you, as the new owner, will be held accountable for any unpaid back taxes.
In addition to the annual tax bill sent in January, an owner might receive one or more additional bills for the current or previous year if, for example, your property’s value has increased because of improvements or if special tax rates are applied to the sector in which the property is located.
