No. The municipal tax bill is
generated at the start of the year in the name of the owner
listed in our records at that time.
However, when you sign your sales
agreement, the notary advise you of the year’s taxes due and
payment deadlines. If this was not done, please contact us by
email
to find out what taxes are owed, to avoid interest charges.
Municipal taxes apply to a property and not to its owner. In
other words, you, as the new owner, will be held accountable
for any unpaid back taxes.
In addition to the annual tax
bill sent in January, an owner might receive one or more
additional bills for the current or previous year if, for
example, your property’s value has increased because of
improvements or if special tax rates are applied to the sector
in which the property is
located. | |
