Taxis

The taxi office is in charge of renewing permits for taxis and limousines. It gives examinations and issues permits to those who pass. It also ensures that permit holders comply with taxi and limousine laws and regulations.

The taxi office also receives and reviews complaints from the public and maintains close ties with representatives of the taxi industry. It is also in charge of issuing driver’s licenses and registration under an agreement with the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ).

Towing

The city’s desire to oversee towing operations within city limits led to the creation of the towing division, which is in charge of:

• Standardizing vehicles and equipment
• Developing a formal process for reviewing complaints
• Overseeing private towing operations
