Montreal: 370 Years
Two significant Montreal anniversaries fall in 2012: the 370th anniversary of
the city’s founding and the 400th birthday of its founder, Paul de Chomedey,
Sieur de Maisonneuve.
To mark both these historical dates, more than 30 museums and other
organizations are highlighting Montreal history. Montrealers and visitors young
and old will find something to fascinate them in various activities and events.
You’ll find the program at Montreal History
Museums.
On this occasion, the Centre d’histoire de Montréal invites you to enjoy the
exhibition Lost
Neighbourhoods. Immerse yourselves in a vanished Montreal through personal
accounts of people who lived in three neighbourhoods sacrificed to a wave of
urban renewal.
If you’d like to go deeper into this discovery, the Centre d’histoire offers
guided visits of the lost neighbourhoods. Three walking tours take a close-up
look at traces of the "Red Light District", "Goose Village" and "Faubourg à
m'lasse":
