Family Portraits

Five Montréal Families, Then and Now

Family Visits to the Centre d'histoire de Montréal
Saturdays at
10 A .M. and 2 P.M. , September 6 to December 6

Montréal September 11, 2003 - Parents and children, the Centre d'histoire de Montréal is inviting you all to come and see what other families' lives were like, at different times during Montréal's history. Five families will be waiting for you, families who, like you, laughed, worked and lived in Montréal!

Family life in Montréal

Family life in Montréal has changed a lot since the days when First Nations people were the only ones living on this island. Since then, French, British, Scots and Irish families have successively chosen to take up residence here. Starting in the last century, many others from all over the world have made Montréal their home. All have brought their own traditions with them and have adapted to new ways of life.

A guide from the Centre d'histoire de Montréal will introduce you to these Montréal families past and present, through their food, the neighbourhoods they have made their own, their means of transportation and the different occupations each family member has engaged in.

Fun for the whole family

Activities and games to amuse both parents and their school-aged children are included in this unique museum visit. An interactive experience, offered at 2 P.M. in French every Saturday during July and August, and in English on demand.

Visits last one hour.

Reservations are required.
