Washable diapers - Rebate Program Being Continued by Verdun Borough in 2012

Verdun, February 27, 2012 – In order to encourage the use of washable (cloth) diapers and cut down on the amount of waste materials sent to the landfill site, the Verdun Borough is relaunching, once again this year, its rebate program for washable (cloth) diapers. One hundred and fifty rebates of up to $100 will be given to Verdunites who have purchased cloth diapers for their newborn babies.

Opting for washable (cloth) diapers is a big plus for the environment, given the fact that the use of one single washable diaper makes it possible to avoid sending up to 230 disposable diapers to the landfill site. And even though buying cloth diapers may seem like a big investment at the outset, it gives rise to average savings of $1,000 per child.

To benefit from the rebate program, just go to La Maison de l'environnement de Verdun (673, 1re Avenue) with the following documents:

  • the registration form available on the Borough's website
  • the child's birth certificate, including the parents' name*
  • proof of residence in Verdun
  • the original of a bill for at least 20 cloth diapers

Don't hesitate to send us photos of your baby wearing a cloth diaper… Maybe your infant will be featured on the next advertisement for the program!

*Please note that your baby must be less than 6 months old at the time you register for the program.

To find out where to buy cloth diapers in Verdun or to obtain further information on the program, please phone La Maison de l'environnement de Verdun at 514 765-VERT (8378) or refer to the Verdun Borough's website (
