Pesticide Application
In May 2004, the borough council of Verdun adopted an ordinance permitting
application within the borough of the By-law concerning pesticide use adopted by
Montréal's city council on April 26, 2004.

By-law application
No one may use pesticide (herbicides, insecticides, fungicides) on laws,
trees or shrubs except in the event of severe contamination
jeopardizing human or plant life. Under such circumstances, approval must be
obtained from the Urban Planning and Business Services Department before a
pesticide application permit may be obtained.
A permit is required to apply pesticide used to control spiders and ants on
the exterior walls of a structure. In the case of spiders, pesticide may only be
applied around the perimeters of doors and windows.
No permits are required for the application of biopesticide (as defined by
the Agence de réglementation de la lutte antiparasitaire) to lawns, trees,
shrubs spiders and ants.
