Permits and certificates

Dish Antenna

No permit is required for the installation of a satellite dish or a parabolic antenna. However, such installation must comply with the zoning by-law.

Rules

  • Antennas may be no more than 0.33 m² or 65 cm in diameter.
  • Antennas may not be installed on front walls, parapets, chimneys or any other location not permitted in the by-law.
  • Antennas may be installed on any sidewalls unless they are at least two metres back from any front wall.
  • Antennas may be installed directly against the wall inside of a balcony and below the level of the parapet.
  • Any antenna installed on a roof must be at least 2 metres from the edge of the front wall.
  • The antenna must be installed on the rear sloping of a sloping roof aligned parallel with the street.
  • The antenna must be installed on the rear half of a sloping roof that is perpendicular to the street.
  • No more than one antenna is permitted for each dwelling.
