Graffiti

Removing graffitiThe placement of graffiti and the placement, marking, engraving or stencilling of signs, tags or messages on any building, any monument, and boarding or street furniture is forbidden.

Doing so is a criminal offence, punishable by severe fines.

The borough has invested considerable amounts over the years to produce an urban environment that is more pleasant for everyone. The borough also systematically removes graffiti found in public and private places.

Prevention

Removing graffiti
  • Keep the site clean and free of trash.
  • Place a grating over the wall.
  • Install a motion-triggered lighting system.
  • Plant vines or shrubs.
  • Paint a mural over the structure.

Systematically file complaints with the police at 514-280-2222 or contact the Accès Verdun office3-1-1 to report the presence of graffiti on a public or a private structure.
