Road Maintenance
The streets are cleaned with different kinds of mechanical equipment.
Maintenance frequency depends on the kind of activity, the type of street (main
or secondary), density of the population and season.
Alleys are not maintained by the borough. The borough only packs down snow in
winter and does not spread abrasives.
Potholes
Aging asphalt, repeated passage of vehicles, seepage of water beneath the
pavement and temperature fluctuations contribute to the creation of potholes,
particularly in the springtime. Road crews make repairs in the summer in
preparation for the spring. Potholes are plugged with cold asphalt in the
winter.
More information on parking regulations and the dynamic sign system may be
found in the Street Parking
Rules section.
