Traffic

One of the two traffic circles on Nun's Island The borough has implemented a set of measures to ensure the safety of drivers and pedestrians and to improve the flow of traffic.

Pedestrian crossingsThe four roundabouts on L'Île-des-Soeurs neighbourhood offer a number of benefits:

  • Better traffic flow.
  • Fewer accidents.
  • Central island landscaping more consistent with the environment.
  • Ability to safely perform U-turns.

Observe signs, yield to pedestrians and drive safely.

Pedestrian crossings

Where a pedestrian enters a pedestrian crosswalk, the driver of a road vehicle or any person riding a bicycle must stop his vehicle to allow the pedestrian to cross the roadway. (Section 410 of Québec's Highway Safety Code).

Speed humps and speed bumps

Speed humps and their slightly higher counterparts, speed bumps, are installed on certain streets and alleys to ensure that vehicles stay within the speed limit.
