Comité sur les habitats naturels (C.H.N.)

(Natural Habitats Committee)

This committee replaces the former Advisory Committee on Management and Follow-up of Natural Habitats in Verdun. Its mandate is to:

  • establish a master plan for managing and developing natural habitats;
  • establish an annual program for interventions and for management and follow-up of natural habitats;
  • review existing facilities twice a year (one in the spring and again in the fall) and plan intervention work;
  • set up an awareness program;
  • set up a foundation, if need be, to raise funds for developing natural habitats;
  • prepare applications for grants within the scope of private or government programs;
  • take part in the implementation of actions to monitor construction work in public areas and on adjacent private properties in order to minimize their impact on habitats.

Committee members:
The committee is made up of seven (7) members, three (3) of whom are chosen from among Verdun residents. One is elected by Borough Council; there is also one representative of the Borough's Administration, an external biologist and an appointed representative from a non-profit organization related to natural habitats and operating on Verdun territory. The members' term of office is two (2) years.
