 | What's not accepted in household waste collections
The following materials are not accepted in GARBAGE
and RECYCLING collections:
- all construction, renovation and demolition materials
- pieces of wood
- branches, leaves and green waste
- sand
- soil
- asphalt debris
- tires
- hazardous household waste (HHW)
- etc.
The following materials are not accepted in BULKY ITEMS
collections:
- construction, renovation and demolition materials from household use and
weighing over 75 kg (165 lbs)
- excavated earth, rubble, demolition refuse and debris from public and
non-public works as well as garbage of an agricultural, industrial, commercial
or artisan nature or from occasional repair workers
- tires, wire (barbed or not), motor vehicle bodies or parts thereof,
vehicle parts, pipes, cans, poles, tanks, batteries
- items that are accepted in other types of collections (garbage, recycling,
green waste, hazardous household waste)
Prohibited items may be brought to Écocentre d’Eadie (website in
French). Full information on the ecocentres, including rates, hours of

Residents may also dispose of mattresses, upholstered furniture,
carpets, construction materials, pieces of wood and branches over 5 cm in
diameter and more than 0.5 metres long, by going to the Borough's Ateliers municipaux building
(information sheet in French) when it is open. Minimum
charges of $33 per cubic metre must be paid on site.
