Message from the Mayor

In the context of the festivities marking the 40th anniversary of Expo 67, I wish to invite you to participate in the 9th edition of La Fête des enfants de Montréal, which will be held this year for the first time at Parc Jean-Drapeau, on August 18 and 19, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Families from all over the Greater Montreal area will be able to enjoy a full roster of more than 100 entertaining, enriching activities, all free of charge, at this picturesque site on Île Sainte-Hélène.
I also wish to pay tribute to Société du parc Jean-Drapeau, which is now carrying the torch as the organizer of the event, an event that celebrates family spirit and conveys fundamental values such as solidarity, open-mindedness and accessibility. The Société’s well-known expertise and the dynamism of its teams in the field are sure guarantees of success. I would further like to highlight the importance of the support lent by institutional and private partners, as well as the contributions made by Montréal’s cultural, sports and community associations, all of which help make this biggest of summer family events a reality here in Montréal. Last but not least, I want to thank the thousands of volunteers and guest artists and performers who give so generously of their time and so willingly share their passion to make this family party an absolutely unforgettable event.
La Fête des enfants de Montréal is moving… to Parc Jean-Drapeau!
Gérald Tremblay
Mayor of Montréal

Message from the spokesperson

My adventure as the spokesperson for La Fête des enfants de Montréal began three years ago. It is a role that matters a great deal to to me, and I am proud, passionate and enthusiastic to be associated with this flagship event of Montreal's summer offerings.
The two days of totally free festivities provide a perfect opportunity to celebrate family spirit and to share the city's cultural diversity in a warm, friendly atmosphere. Featuring creativity and cultural expression in all its forms, this rallying event promotes a better understanding, and thus, better integration of all cultures.
Every effort is made to offer both youngsters and adults a unique, entertaining and memorable experience, through family services, quality programming, and to top it all off…an even bigger playground, now that La Fête has relocated to Parc Jean Drapeau.
So let yourselves get swept up in the fun,
wonderment and surprises, and… may the party begin!
François-Étienne Paré
Spokesperson for La Fête des enfants de Montréal
