Commercial sign certificate

If you wish to erect, enlarge, rebuild, modify, move, place, install, finish or paint a sign within Verdun borough limits, you must first obtain a commercial sign certificate.*

*Approval by Site Development and Architectural Integration Plan (PIIA) is required prior to submitting an application for a commercial sign certificate, in the following cases:

  • Non-standard sign
  • Sign detached from a building
  • Sign between Rue Wellington and Rue de l’Église

Supporting documents required for an application for PIIA approval

Le nom, le prénom, l’adresse et, le cas échéant, la raison sociale de la personne physique ou morale exerçant l’usage ou exploitant l’établissement pour lequel la demande est faite ainsi que, le cas échéant, le nom, le prénom et l’adresse de son mandataire ou représentant;

  • The family name, given name, address and, if applicable, the corporate name of the person using or running the establishment for which the application is submitted and, if applicable, the family name, given name and address of his or her authorized agent or representative;
  • The family name, given name and address of the owner of the building on which the sign will be installed;
  • The name and address of the contractor charged with installing the sign;
  • List of materials used, colours, lighting method and sign mounting system;
  • A scale dimensional drawing (eight paper copies), indicating:
    • The height of the sign in relation to the average vertical grade directly under the sign;
    • The inscription on each side of the sign;
    • The dimensions and details of the facade on which the sign will be installed and the exact position of the sign and any sign already installed;
  • Front facing photos, showing the facade on which the sign will be installed, as well as the facades of neighbouring buildings;
  • Photos taken parallel to the direction of the street, showing the succession of signs and the general environment on the city block where the sign will be installed;
  • A photo montage or visual simulation showing the facade, the new sign and any existing sign that will be preserved.

  • Front facing photos, showing the facade on which the sign will be installed, as well as the facades of neighbouring buildings;

  • A photo montage or visual simulation showing the facade, the new sign and any existing sign that will be preserved.
