Message from the Mayor
Bordered by the river and the Canal de l’aqueduc, Verdun enjoys an ideal geographic location, with 15 km of shoreline and a rich history. Living in Verdun means making the most of the beauty of the river, the borough’s many green spaces and Montréal’s vibrant urban life.
Today’s Verdun is characterized by the quality of its living environments and its people-friendly green neighbourhoods that hold numerous advantages for families.
The borough has been able to position itself favourably in Montréal and make a name for itself beyond its borders through promising projects, including Quai 5160 – Maison de la culture de Verdun, the Auditorium and urban beach, as well as its Promenade Wellington, which plays host to such major events as Cabane Panache and Bois rond.
Easily accessible, the borough is served by three metro stations, to go along with several kilometres of bike paths for citizens who favour active transportation. What’s more, by 2021, the Réseau express métropolitain’s (REM) Ile-des-Sœurs station will offer the Verdunites increased access to downtown, the airport and the employment sectors on Montréal’s West Island.
