Tribute to volunteers
Fête des bénévoles
Each year, the Verdun borough recognizes the involvement of more than 300 volunteers working in culture, sports, recreation, social development, the environment, urban planning and public safety. This event is meant to celebrate their contribution and commitment to the community.
Les V Hommage: awards in recognition of volunteers
New in 2018, the borough launched the V Hommage recognition awards in honour of volunteers who distinguish themselves in the community.
The Prix V Relève recognizes the contribution of a volunteer involved in the community for less than three years.
The Prix V Expérience recognizes the contribution of a volunteer involved in the community for three to 10 years.
The Prix V Accompli recognizes the contribution of a volunteer involved in the community for more than 10 years.
Presentation of the awards
The winners are announced and introduced at the cocktail hour (5 à 7) held as part of the Soirée des bénévoles, on Wednesday, April 11, 2019.
The jury will be composed of three representatives of local associations and an employee (without the right to vote) of the Direction de la culture, des sports, des loisirs et du développement social in the borough of Verdun.
To be considered, the candidacy of a volunteer active in Verdun must be submitted by an organization or by two people, notably a sponsor or co-sponsor who has no family relationship with the candidate and who resides in the borough of Verdun.
Here are the main criteria that guide jury members in evaluating the candidacies:
Achievements: Through volunteer work, the candidate carries out actions that are useful to friends or family and that have an impact on the community. The candidate shows leadership in the community and mobilizes the resources required to meet the objectives set.
Involvement: The candidate is actively involved in the community. On a regular basis or during a significant part of the season or year, the candidate’s volunteer involvement requires a major time investment.
The candidacy must concern the volunteer activities of a single individual.
The candidate must work in the borough of Verdun.
The candidate must be active in his or her community, in all cases.
The candidate’s recognized actions must not involve paid work, particularly when the candidate’s activities take place in the same sphere of activity where he or she works.
The nomination form must be received by no later than Friday, March 16, 20189. It may be forwarded in three ways:
