4 novembre 2014

Pierrefonds-Roxboro, November 3, 2014 - During this evening regular sitting, the Pierrefonds-Roxboro Borough Council has adopted a resolution authorizing a $10,000 subsidy to the Carrefour des 6-12 ans de Pierrefonds in order to undertake its educational-community project Accompagne-moi à la maison.

"We are pleased to support the Accompagne-moi à la maison Project of the Carrefour des 6-12 ans. Investing in our youth could transform them and help them to have a better future. I applaud the work of Mrs. Carole Legault, General Manager, and her team, whom in addition to their involvement in helping students succeed in school, they offer a variety of cultural, scientific and sporting activities to children in Pierrefonds-Roxboro.", declared Mr. Dimitrios (Jim) Beis, Mayor of the Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro and Member of the Executive Committee of Ville de Montréal, responsible for procurement, sports and leisure and communities of diverse origins.

"According to Nelson Mandela, education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world. Inspired by Mr. Mandela, Carrefour des 6-12 ans has chosen educational support as a primary intervention mean to help our youth. I wish to thank the Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro, especially the Borough Mayor, Mr. Dimitrios (Jim) Beis, for his continuous support and his engagement to help our youth succeed in school.", said Mrs. Carole Legault, General Manager of the Carrefour des 6-12 ans.

This project is intended for children with learning difficulties. Once the children are identified, and thanks to this project, the Carrefour will insure a follow-up with 20 families (maximum of 40 children), twice a week during 28 weeks, of Harfang-des-Neiges and Perce-Neige schools in order to offer homework aid and to improve the quality of parents' school-related tutoring at home.
