Earth Hour: The Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro invites citizens to turn off lights

Montréal, March 10, 2014 - The Pierrefonds-Roxboro Borough Council invites citizens, once again this year, to celebrate the Earth Hour event by turning off lights for one hour on Saturday, March 29, 2014, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.

"I invite Pierrefonds-Roxboro Borough's citizens to take part in the Earth Hour worldwide movement by making a representative gesture. Let's turn off lights for one hour on March 29. Together, we plunge into darkness to illustrate the importance of using our energy resources wisely.", declared Mr. Dimitrios (Jim) Beis, Mayor of the Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro and Member of the Executive Committee responsible for procurement, sports and recreation, and communities of diverse origins.

This worldwide event aims to sensitise earth population on the importance of preserving energy to assure a sustainable future for next generations. In 2013, more than 7,000 small and large cities in 154 countries have celebrated the Earth Hour.

This year the Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro will reaffirm his commitment by turning off its electronic billboards and municipal buildings lights. As for Ville de Montréal and its boroughs, lights will be turned off in numerous buildings including City Hall. Mont-Royal cross lights will also be turned off.
