PUBLIC CONSULTATION MEETING ON DRAFT BY-LAW 05-036-1

TO ALL INDIVIDUALS CONCERNED BY DRAFT BY-LAW 05-036-1 ENTITLED:  “by-law MODIFYING CONSTRUCTION BY-LAW 05-036 RELATIVE TO BUILDING STANDARDS APPLICABLE IN THE BOROUGH AND REPEALING CONSTRUCTION BY-LAW 1750”.

 

NOTICE is hereby given by the undersigned:

 

THAT the city council adopted at its meeting held on November 24, 2008, draft by-law 05-036-1 entitled “By-law modifying Construction By-law 05-036 relative to building standards applicable in the borough and repealing Construction By-law 1750”;

 

THAT a public consultation meeting shall be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at 6:00 p.m., in room 205 of the borough hall located at 4555 rue de Verdun, in accordance with the provisions of An Act respecting land use planning and development (R.S.Q., c. A-19.1); 

 

THAT the purpose of this modification is to:

 

                   Transfer all elements not applicable to construction in the Construction By-law to by-laws relating to such matters;

 

                   Define elements referring to provisions with respect to requirements which are contrary to certain laws, notably the Architects Act and the Professional Code;

 

                   Include provisions of the National Building Code in order to apply the National Building Code in its entirety;

 

                   Introduce the possibility to allow alternative measures stipulated in the National Building Code to reflect the borough's existing built form;

 

                   Include the provision allowing the construction of full-length balconies to reflect the borough's existing built form.

 

THAT this draft by-law applies to the entire borough territory.

 

THAT during this public consultation meeting, the borough mayor shall explain this draft by-law as well as the consequences of its adoption, and shall hear individuals interested in voicing their opinion on this matter;

 

THAT this draft by-law may be consulted at the borough hall, room 102, 4555 rue de Verdun, during regular office hours, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
