The Old Montréal Protection and Enhancement Plan presents concerted and coordinated actions to improve the quality of the living environment of this area, to showcase its unique characteristics and to develop it as a tourist destination. As we head toward the 375th anniversary celebration of the founding of Montréal, this plan will help show the historic heart of the City at its best.

Old Montréal Protection and Enhancement Plan

Since the creation of the historic borough, the City and its partners have been actively working to enhance Old Montréal. Today, it is a dynamic and multi-faceted district steeped in history, treasured by Montrealers and enjoyed by visitors. The Old Montréal Protection and Enhancement Plan is part of the City‘s strategic planning and sets out priority actions in the short term to achieve several proposed objectives and to improve the look of the historic borough between now and 2017.

Public Consultations

The City mandated the Office de consultation publique de Montréal to invite citizens to share their thoughts about the vision and directions set out in the Plan. The purpose of these public consultations was to elicit the broadest possible input into what actions should be taken between now and 2017 and beyond to help Old Montréal achieve its full potential.
