Bureau du directeur
In addition to supervising all the activities of the Service de la culture and coordinating the Entente sur le développement culturel de Montréal with the Québec government, the Bureau oversees the development of the Quartier des spectacles in terms of planning and deployment of its cultural role. The Bureau is also directly involved in all the major projects that shape Montréal’s cultural identity and promote its international reputation.
The Bureau directs activities that recognize the best in culture, in particular the Prix d’Excellence in literature, visual arts, and arts and crafts.
It works closely with the Secrétariat de Montréal métropole culturelle and with Tourisme Montréal on the cultural tourism strategy.
It serves as the liaison with the World Cities Culture Forum (WCCF) and local and international agencies involved in the Agenda 21 for Culture.
Finally, the Bureau represents municipal bodies at the Observatoire de la culture et des communications du Québec and collaborates with major Canadian cities while managing Montréal’s participation in numerous special projects, such as Expo 2010 Shanghai and the Barcelona La Mercè Festival 2012.
