Accès culture network
Culture is accessible to everyone, every day in Montréal. Thanks to the City’s Accès culture network, consisting of Maisons de la culture and municipal performance and exhibition halls, citizens can enjoy an array of cultural outings. This network includes 24 municipal venues that present free or inexpensive cultural activities in some 60 locations in the heart of Montréal’s 19 boroughs. In addition to a broad range of programming, the Accès culture network offers artist residencies, cultural mediation, mentoring activities and events of interest to the general public, families (young audiences) and school groups.
The mission of the Accès culture network is to make culture accessible to everyone based on principles of democracy and fairness and to encourage Montrealers to take part in the cultural life of their neighbourhood. This mission forms part of the actions taken in the wake of adoption of the 2005–2015 Cultural Development Policy.
