The Maison internationale des arts de la marionnette

A creative laboratory open to the community

Did you know the art of puppetry is flourishing, with Montrealers recognized on the international stage, increasingly, for their expertise? The time was ripe, therefore, for the city to build a centre that measures up to our reputation.

The Maison internationale des arts de la Marionnette (MIAM) will open it doors in the Outremont borough in the end of 2017. It will become Canada’s first international centre dedicated entirely to creation, dissemination, training and mediation in the puppetry arts. With its puppet-making workshop, documentation centre, office spaces and friendly fireplace area, the MIAM will serve as a research and innovation lab and a gathering place for artists from here and beyond.

Located in the heart of the îlot Saint-Viateur, la MIAM is sure to enrich this neighbourhood – which is already renowned for its cultural vitality – and in this spirit, will open its doors to the local community.

Investment by the city: $1 million
