A new public space in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve

Hochelaga-Maisonneuve has enjoyed a boom in recent years.

The space will overlook rue Ontario, thus creating a scenic effect, and it will be used to highlight the sector’s creativity by serving as a venue for fairs showcasing works by local artisans.

The space will also commemorate the prominent role the Hochelaga neighbourhood has played in Montréal’s economic development and the 150-year history of rue Ontario, which cuts through a number of former working-class communities.

This project is a response to calls by citizens and local actors for a major redevelopment of this intersection in order to make it a true gateway to the neighbourhood and a people-friendly gathering place.

This project is receiving financial support from the Ville de Montréal and the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.
Investment by the city: $1.5 million
