New public space set to boost cultural life in Anjou

Cultural life in Anjou is set to get a boost in 2017 with the development of a public space, the Place des Angevins, including a covered stage, outside of borough hall.

This recreational space will be designed specifically to host cultural activities across a range of disciplines as well as special events, among other things.

The park’s current layout, featuring two buttes, will be highlighted to offer a natural perspective on the stage below.

The space will serve as a gathering place for citizens, a much-needed civic hub that does not currently exist in the borough. Public benches and picnic tables will be added in some places in the park, and a leisure zone in the form of a reading area will be developed near the library. The reading area will offer a view of the square.

Construction will be finished in May.

This project is receiving financial support from the city and Anjou.
Investment by the city: $1.6 million
